Thanks for purchasing our MPP.R Racing Bucket Seat Mount Kit for Tesla Model 3! This kit is relatively easy to install, but does require some parts from your OE seat.

NOTE: The seat kit is only compatible with seats with a bolting face width between 384mm – 405mm. Very narrow seats may require washers beween the bracket and the seat.

Installation Instructions:

Time Required: 2 Hours
Tools Required: Torx Plus 45 Socket, T20 Socket, Plastic Trim Tools, Seat Belt Release Key, Common Hand Tools
Difficulty Level: 4/10

Step 1 – OE Seat Removal

  • Set steering wheel to the highest, furthest away position from seat
  • Remove drivers side instrument panel trim pieces
  • Remove left front lower a-pillar trim (one plastic clip near the instrument panel)
  • Insert the seat belt release key into the bottom of the seatbelt pre-tensioner coupling to remove the seat belt from the pre-tensioner (link to the tool above)
  • Move the seat to the forward-most position
  • Remove two rear seat bolts (Torx Plus T45)
  • Adjust the seat height to the maximum position
  • Remove the T20 bolt (or plastic clip) holding the side seat trim to the seat frame
  • Move the seat to the rear-most position
  • Remove two front seat bolts (Torx Plus T45)
  • Move the seat to the middle position
  • Fully power-off vehicle – remove the main contactor connector and disconnect the 12V battery – see instructions HERE
  • Remove the seat wiring harness connector from VCLeft (locking tab slides in and out)
  • Remove the seat from the vehicle

Step 2 – Remove OE Sliders, Pre-Tensioner, and Seat Belt from Seat Frame

  • Set the seat on its face so you can work underneath it
  • Remove both seat side trims entirely (plastic trim tool)
  • Remove seat harness connector from sliders
  • Remove 4x Torx T50 Bolts that connect seat sliders to frame
  • Remove the remaining seat height arm Torx T50 bolt
  • Remove OE Sliders with pre-tensioner and seat belt
  • Remove the seat control switch module from the seat side trim (3x T20 Torx Bolts)

Step 3 – Remove OE Lumbar Module and Seat Controls

  • Remove the headrest – a 90-degree pick and pocket screwdriver will help. Pull down on the seat trim surrounding the headrest area to expose metal retaining clips. Clips must be pulled away from the headrest to release. Pull the headrest up and out. This releases the seat back trim.
  • Remove seat back trim – pull out and down
  • Remove lumbar module – one white connector, wedge tool/flat screwdriver to remove three lumbar airlines, slide to release

Step 4 – Install Occupancy Sensor In Bucket Seat

  • Remove the seat cushion from your bucket seat and install supplied occupancy sensor
  • Route wiring through the sub-belt hole, ensuring that if sub-belts are used, they will not rub on the wire
  • Tape or epoxy the cable to the seat to provide strain relief

Step 5 – Install Bucket Seat onto OE Sliders

  • Using MPP-supplied hardware, bolt the MPP Brackets to the OE Sliders (33.5nm/24.7lb-ft)
  • Bolt fixed-back seat to MPP brackets using your own hardware (follow seat manufacturer torque specs)
  • You may wish to leave the seat bolts loose and tighten them with a person in the seat when mounted in the car at the end
  • Using supplied spacers and hardware, bolt the seat control switch to the seat mounting bracket

Step 6 – Install MPP Provided Harness + Lumbar Module

  • Connect MPP seat wiring harness to the vehicle (VC Left at driver footwell)
  • Route the harness through the carpet in the same way as the OEM harness was routed
  • Plug In the lumbar module to the supplied connector on the MPP harness near the VC Left connector (driver footwell) and mount it with double-sided tape or velcro to prevent it from bouncing around

Step 7 – Install Fixed-Back Seat into Car And Connect Harness

  • Place fixed back seat and harness into vehicle
  • Plug the MPP harness into the power slider, seatbelt buckle, pre-tensioner, occupancy sensor, and seat switch module
  • Route wiring neatly, provide strain relief, and consider track movement of the seat
  • Reconnect main battery contactors + 12V battery
  • Move the seat fully forward
  • Install Torx-Plus T45 bolts attaching seat frame to the floor (33.5nm/24.7lb-ft)
  • Move seat fully-rearward
  • Install Torx-Plus T45 bolts attaching the seat frame to the floor (33.5nm/24.7lb-ft)

Step 8 – Final Steps

  • Move the seat forwards and backward and ensure that the wiring harness is not being strained
  • Check and paint mark hardware
  • Set up Easy-Entry allowing the seat and steering wheel to move out of the way when the car is put in park
